The Pension Plan administrator collects personal information about you on behalf of the CWA/ITU Pension Plan (Canada) and their service providers. The information collected is needed to administer the Plan properly and to comply with applicable laws. These tasks may include:

  • Enrolling you in the Plan;
  • Calculating your pension benefit;
  • Communicating with you about your pension;
  • Protecting you and the Plan from fraud and error;
  • Verifying and auditing your pension benefit, eligibility and contributions;
  • Performing actuarial activities (preparing actuarial valuation reports to determine the cost of accrued, future or proposed benefits); and
  • Preparing tax slips and regulatory reports.

Ellement may exchange your personal information regarding your pension benefit with other service providers working for the Plan. Your personal information will only be disclosed to outside parties with your permission or as required by law. For any privacy-related inquiries, please contact us.

Locked-In

Terminology

Your pension benefits are generally "locked-in" and can't be withdrawn as cash. They must provide retirement income instead. There are some exceptions for small pensions, which depend on provincial rules. For example:
